“Better a witty fool, than a foolish wit”

“Some are born great, others achieve greatness” – so goes the iconic line from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, which the grade 9 English students read this week. Having seen a performance of Twelfth Night in Stratford earlier this year, their analysis of the text furthered their understanding of the play.

Trick Taking Tacticians

This week, the grade 9 math class continued learning about the intense and highly strategic card game of bridge. They learned bidding strategies and conventions, such as Stayman and Jacoby Transfers. After mastering these, students will move on to learn other tactics.

Cutthroat Competition

Of all the exciting clubs available to MGCI students, DECA is one of the most popular. This club allows students to compete in a simulated business environment. This week, over 50 MGCI students competed at the provincial round of the competition. Many placed highly, with 14 students moving on to compete internationally in Atlanta, Georgia.

Greenhouse Gardening

This week, the grade 9 geography class journeyed to the school greenhouse. They explored and observed all aspects of the garden. As part of the Story of Stuff unit, the class found this excursion both stimulating and enlightening. Trekking through the various flora, students learned about all the vegetation that comes from MGCI’s botanical garden!
