This week, the grade 9 science class started their chemistry unit. Students looked at the difference between chemical and physical changes of substances as well as the relationships between mass, volume and density. They will now study atoms, elements, compounds and the periodic table in greater depth.
This week, the grade 9 science class continued their research on cell biology, specifically, cancer cells. Students observed both normal and cancerous lung cells, looking for similarities and differences and making quantitative and qualitative observations.
In 1977, Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope by running across Canada with a mission to have a world without cancer. This week, to honour him and his dream, MGCI students walked, jogged, ran and raised funds by participating in the annual Terry Fox Run.
