Playing with Pendulums

The grade 12 AP physics students began their pendulum lab this week. They applied their knowledge of calculus concepts to investigate how the mass and length of a pendulum affect its period. Students will write a formal report to summarize their findings from the lab.

Stories on the Wall

The grade 12 students in Ms. Scholl’s English class expressed themselves in short stories this week. Using the paper, writing tools, and snacks that were supplied, students wrote narratives about specific moments in their lives that will be suspended in time on the wall.

De-Stressing

This week the grade 12 chemistry students investigated the implications of Le Chatelier’s principle, which predicts how a system at equilibrium will be affected when subject to stress. They performed an experiment using varsol and iodine. Based on types of solvents added, student will draw conclusions explaining why and how a system is affected by stress.

Super Soil Sampling

The grade 12 AP Physics C students demoed their summative projects, a remote soil sampler and analyzer. It consisted of a robotic arm that could operate autonomously to sample soil in its surroundings at a position selected by the user from a live camera feed. Data such as the mass, temperature, reflective spectra, and volume were returned as appropriate.
