Washington Grad Trip

The Grade 12 students went on their 4 night grad trip to Washington, D.C. They visited the Smithsonian museums, toured the various memorials, watched “Shear Madness” at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and got to see an exciting Washington Nationals baseball game.

Rates of Reaction

This week the Grade 12 chemistry students explored rates of reaction and orders of reactions with a lab. First, they prepared solutions of iron (III) nitrate and potassium iodide. They then experimented with changing the concentrations of the solutions and using colorimetry to determine the order of the reaction.

Looking Out For Bad Stats

This week, Grade 12 Data Management students brought in and analyzed graphs found in newspapers and other media. They looked for biases, improperly labeled axis, faulty legends, and other signs of poorly made graphs and misleading statistics.

Data Management Projects

This week,Grade 12 data management students presented their summative projects. They had a thesis question that they explored by creating and distributing a survey. After analyzing the data, they showed their detailed report in a presentation. Example studies included game theory for students and comparison of artistic taste and personality.
