Circulatory System

This week, the grade 11 biology students learned about the circulatory system. The students learned about the different components of blood, the fundamental process of the heart beat, and various cardiovascular diseases. They will apply their knowledge by using sphygmomanometer to measure their own blood pressure.

Macbeth

This week, the grade 11 students were introduced to the famous Shakespeare play Macbeth. To gain a better understanding of the characters and plot, the students are required to annotate their copies of the play script. A dramatized audio book and thorough in-class discussions enrich the reading experience.

The New English Study

This week, the grade 11 English students began to read the famous Greek tragedy, Antigone. They are simultaneously reading a modern adaptation of the text, Antigonick, to compare and contrast the traditional and modern portrayal of the same story. By comparing the two texts, the students gain a better understanding of the plot, characters, and themes.

Cells 101

This week, the grade 11 biology students learned about the basic unit of life: the cell. They studied the functions of the organelles within animal and plant cells. At the end of the unit, the students conducted a microscope lab in which they observed the cells in a thin piece of onion epidermis.
