Creating Crystals in Chemistry

This week, grade 11 TOPS chemistry students analyzed the three degrees of saturation when a solute is dissolved in a given amount of solvent. Students were delighted to watch the crystal formation after small particles of sodium thiosulfate were added to a supersaturated solution.

Grade 11 Stoichiometry Presentations

The Stoichiometry unit in the Grade 11 TOPS Chemistry classes finished off with an entertaining assignment. Students were asked to creatively present methods by which fictional unknown elements were discovered. This led to many insightful ideas, and a lot of laughter in the room!

Tech Design

This week, students in the TOPS Design course have started the Electrical Components unit of the course. Students are currently learning the basics of electronics, such as reading electrical schematics and soldering wires. These skills will come handy soon as students will be building Bumper-Bots in the near future…from scratch!
