This Friday, the Grade 12 Biology students conducted fifty-minute seminars on epigenetics and immortalized cell lines. The first group discussed the effect of chemical compounds bonded to DNA that affect its expression. The second group discussed HeLa cells, which were the first human cells able to proliferate indefinitely in a lab environment. The classes will be conducting more seminars on “hot topics” in biology over the next few months.
